Delve into film theory and cinematic history while honing your creative abilities in film production, screenwriting, and various practice-based modules through our full-time BA (Hons) Film program in Cambridge. Our course, which achieved 94% satisfaction for Academic Support in the 2023 National Student Survey, equips you for diverse careers in the film sector, including screenwriting, directing, journalism, curation, festival coordination, and audience engagement.

At ARU, you'll examine global cinema's evolution, analyzing everything from avant-garde works to mainstream Hollywood productions. Beyond exploring how films mirror and influence culture, you'll create short films and examine cinematic language as a practitioner. This hands-on approach includes writing scripts and producing experimental, narrative, and documentary films using digital formats alongside traditional 8mm and 16mm film.

You'll have chances to showcase your work at Cambridge Arts Picturehouse and collaborate with industry partners. Our connections with regional and national organizations facilitate networking and internship opportunities. The program also offers the flexibility to incorporate a placement year into your studies.
