Discover how literature has mirrored and shaped diverse cultures throughout history while preparing for a variety of careers—some you may not have considered—through our BA (Hons) English Literature program in Cambridge. You'll examine an array of texts, from traditional forms like novels, poetry, and drama to theatrical productions, films, essays, pamphlets, reviews, and critical theory, honing your analytical reading and response skills.

Literature study—inherently interdisciplinary—will deepen your knowledge of history, politics, philosophy, religion, psychology, and more, alongside the influential written works that have defined our world.

During your studies, you'll also have chances to explore themes from related creative fields like writing, film, and media. Our English Literature program cultivates versatile skills prized by employers across industries, including literacy, communication, critical analysis, problem-solving, research, and both independent and team-based work.

With diverse optional modules, you can tailor your studies to your passions. Delve into specific genres like crime fiction or children's literature, examine digital publishing or online journalism, or refine your creative writing abilities. Enhance your employability further through a work placement year, a study abroad term, or language learning via our Anglia Language Programme.

We'll assist you in securing placements and work experience opportunities. You may opt for a dedicated placement year or pursue roles during your studies, with real-world projects integrated into certain modules—like our students' recent collaboration with Metal Culture, contributing critical pieces to their publication In Other Words.
