The MA International Relations program at Aberystwyth University helps you understand the complexities of our current global political landscape and examine its theoretical and practical implications. Regardless of whether you come from an international relations background or another field, our diverse course modules and faculty expertise will challenge you to broaden your perspectives and consider multiple approaches to contemporary global politics. Aberystwyth has been instrumental in advancing critical IR theories, including post-positivist approaches, feminist international relations, and decolonial perspectives. Continuing this legacy of innovation, our IR curriculum critically examines fundamental concepts and presuppositions within both academic and practical international relations. We analyze notions such as anarchy, sovereignty, and power through lenses like postcolonial theory, feminist frameworks, and anthropocene perspectives.
