Game Art and Animation are professional specializations within the gaming sector, requiring diverse creative, conceptual, and technical abilities. This practice encompasses various areas including 2D digital artwork, 3D modeling and sculpting, photogrammetry, graphic design and illustration, interface design, keyframe animation, motion capture, and technical arts with scripting.
For research purposes, Abertay offers specialized supervision combining academic expertise and industry knowledge to guide practice-based studies in Game Art and Animation. Research may focus not only on gaming applications—such as refining content creation processes—but also on other uses like applied gaming, visualization, and cultural/heritage initiatives.
As the primary partner for InGAME: Innovation for Games and Media Enterprise, an AHRC-supported R&D hub for Dundee's gaming community, Abertay University provides postgraduate students with R&D prospects and industry connections.
