From community-driven programs nurturing future athletes to preparing top-tier competitors for global events - sports development and coaching demands highly skilled graduates with deep insight into the field's dynamic challenges. This represents one of the specialized pathways within Abertay's sports curriculum. You'll select your specialization after completing the second stage of the BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise program. Applicants must have finished SPS105 or possess a coaching certification, relevant coursework, or prior coaching experience in at least one sport before beginning Stage 3. Explore the scientific foundations of sports - including physiology, sociology, psychology, and biomechanics - while developing expertise in coaching methodologies, policy frameworks, sports development, and broader societal aspects of physical activity throughout this engaging, practical degree. Given the vast scope of the sports sector, this program has been carefully structured to address the evolving job landscape, covering instruction methods, service delivery, ethical responsibilities, and individual/community growth initiatives.
