The Master of Nursing Science (Pre-registration) (MNSc (Pre-reg)) is a two-year program spanning four semesters. This accelerated pathway enables degree holders to transition swiftly into nursing. Upon graduation, students receive a Master of Nursing Science (Pre-registration) qualification and can apply to the Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ) to take the State Final Examination for nurse registration. Applicants must hold an accredited bachelor's degree with at least a B average (65%) in their final year. Those with limited health science background can complete a 15-credit online preparatory module. This program caters to graduates seeking career transitions or new professional directions. Diverse academic backgrounds among students foster enriched learning environments, strengthening cultural values like manākitanga and whakawhanaungatanga. The program employs blended learning methods, combining intensive block courses with digital instruction to accommodate regional students. Clinical integration develops culturally aware, practice-ready nurses skilled in interdisciplinary care for Māori, Pacific, rural, and remote communities, their families, and wider networks.
