The Master of Applied Information Technology offers students an in-depth study program in their chosen IT specialization. This 180-credit qualification provides two options: The thesis track is research-focused, featuring a 90-credit level 9 thesis component designed to pave the way for doctoral studies. Alternatively, the research project pathway emphasizes coursework, with a 45-credit level 9 research module (a condensed version of the thesis) that prepares graduates for advanced IT roles, potentially including an industry internship. Both pathways include level 8 courses, with the research project option allowing more elective choices at this level, while the thesis pathway suits those pursuing significant research.
Program graduates gain expertise for leadership roles across various IT domains including business analysis, data analytics, cybersecurity, IT management, and software development. High-achieving students (particularly those completing the thesis) may qualify for doctoral programs in New Zealand or internationally.
