Almost all modern electronics have embedded controllers in them, and specialists in the software and hardware of this technology are in demand. Choose from the range of specialist areas offered by Victoria including power electronics, wireless communications systems, signal processing and control systems engineering. Or focus on advanced mechatronics including options to study intelligent design and problem solving using musical mechatronics. You'll be able to broaden your expertise and incorporate courses from related disciplines such as computer science, network engineering and software engineering into your studies. If you're doing your Master's, you'll complete a research thesis on the area of electronics that interests you most. Gain hands-on knowledge and experience. Learn techniques to design and make electronic, electro-mechanical and optical devices with micron-sized features. Or explore areas involving advanced techniques in the field of mechatronics, robotics and artificial intelligence. You need a Bachelor’s degree with at least a B average unless stated otherwise in the programme’s minimum general entry requirements. A background in a particular subject area or extensive relevant work experience may be required. Each application is assessed individually, and entry into postgraduate programmes is at the discretion of the programme director.
