The MSc program requires two to two and a half years of full-time study or up to four years part-time. Your first year will involve coursework in your specialization, followed by 12-15 months of supervised research culminating in a thesis. You may also have opportunities to publish in academic journals during your studies.
Admission requires a relevant Bachelor's degree with a B average or better in your major subject. Relevant professional experience may also qualify you for entry.

Through the School of Biological Sciences and its research partners, you'll collaborate with leading scientists and access exceptional research resources. Study microorganisms, viruses, and cellular components at molecular levels, exploring gene expression, cellular communication, evolution, and metabolic processes. You'll investigate pathogenic microbes affecting humans, animals, and plants, along with host-pathogen interactions. With genome sequencing technology, you'll identify potential drug targets. The program duration is two to two and a half years full-time or up to four years part-time, beginning with specialized coursework followed by extensive research and thesis writing, with potential journal publications.
