The Bachelor of Building Science is a three-year undergraduate program that equips students with specialized knowledge in building science, technology, and economics, along with architectural principles.
This degree was established to address the increasing demands of New Zealand's construction sector. Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington now stands as a global pioneer in building science education, offering the nation's premier BBSc program focused on building sciences.
Students share foundational courses with Architecture majors in their first year before choosing between Project Management or Sustainable Engineering Systems specializations in subsequent years. The option to pursue a dual major in both disciplines is also available.
The Project Management specialization develops competencies in construction project oversight, covering contract administration and clear communication. Students also gain expertise in construction and environmental regulations while analyzing market dynamics of supply, demand, and competition.
