Religious beliefs have the power to unite communities and inspire human behavior. They can fuel conflicts or promote harmony, lead to destruction or healing, foster animosity or compassion, and generate extraordinary works of literature, art, and music. Grasping the concepts of belief systems and spiritual traditions is crucial for comprehending our global society. In an increasingly interconnected world with growing cultural diversity, the capacity to examine the intricate realm of spiritual beliefs has become an invaluable skill. The Religious Studies program, housed within the School of Social and Cultural Studies, offers a vibrant postgraduate community with dedicated, expert guidance. Students will discover an encouraging and intellectually engaging academic environment. The program requires completion of 120 credits within one year for full-time students, or up to four years for part-time study. At the Honours level, students take greater responsibility for their learning journey. The curriculum includes a 30-credit research component, allowing students to develop, execute, and document a supervised research project. Honours students benefit from more intimate class settings, fostering stronger connections with faculty members.
