Enhance your knowledge ofMaori culture and language while honing research abilities to gain deeper insights intoMaori history, contemporary issues, and future prospects. You'll collaborate with Te Kawa a Māui—School ofMaori Studies faculty members who are engaged in active research. With diverse specializations, they provide access to extensive and varied knowledge. Examine topics inMaori society, explore different research approaches, and strengthen your te reo comprehension by analyzing traditional waiata, whakataukī, karakia, and modern works. Instructors employ multiple teaching techniques to accommodate various learning preferences. The majority of courses feature daytime on-campus lectures and tutorials. Skilled advisors will guide you through self-selected research initiatives. The program requires completing 120 points within one year for full-time students, or up to four years for part-time study. At the Honours level, your studies become more independent. You can undertake a 30-point research project involving the design, execution, and documentation of supervised research. As an Honours candidate, you'll benefit from smaller class sizes and develop stronger connections with faculty members.
