Elevate your film knowledge and delve deeper into your chosen specialization. Whether examining cinematic authorship and visual styles, 3D film technology, or how movies influence travel destinations, you'll conduct self-directed research while honing your analytical thinking and communication skills. Our postgraduate Film programs allow you to immerse yourself in cinema studies at an advanced level, collaborating with our active research faculty to complete either a Master of Arts or PhD thesis (potentially incorporating creative work). For industry-focused training, the one-year Master of Fine Arts (Creative Practice) equips you with professional skills for freelance film careers. Victoria's School of English, Film, Theatre, and Media Studies connects you with distinguished scholars who are leaders in their research fields.
The program requires completing 120 credits within one year (or up to four years part-time). Honors students enjoy greater academic independence, undertaking a 30-credit supervised research project from conception to presentation. Smaller class sizes foster stronger connections with faculty. If you maintain a B average in relevant undergraduate courses, you may qualify for BA(Hons) advanced study.
