The Bachelor of Environmental Planning (BEP) is an interdisciplinary, research-focused program designed to equip you for careers in planning and environmental management. As a BEP student, you'll learn from top academics and industry professionals who pioneer research in climate resilience, eco-friendly housing, water conservation, indigenous resource stewardship, and biodiversity protection.
Their knowledge will give you comprehensive professional planning training and a specialized qualification recognized by the New Zealand Planning Institute (NZPI). Leveraging the Waikato region's abundant natural assets, our program offers both fundamental knowledge and specialized pathways to tailor your professional journey.
This four-year qualification features three distinct specializations:

Te Ara Taiao: Indigenous Environmental Perspectives
The curriculum integrates coursework from diverse fields such as Environmental Planning, Biological Sciences, Economic Studies, Indigenous Knowledge Systems, Governance Studies, Political Theory, and Spatial Sciences.
Our BEP program holds accreditation from the New Zealand Planning Institute (NZPI).
The degree emphasizes hands-on industry experience through laboratory work, practical sessions, and field studies. You'll engage with expert guest speakers, participate in applied learning activities, and attend professional events like resource consent hearings, urban planning reviews, and environmental assessment seminars.
Entry requirements vary from country to country.
