The Master of Indigenous Studies (MIndS) program is built on the principle that Maori, Pacific Islander, and other Indigenous communities possess distinct knowledge systems regarding traditional, environmental, and cultural practices. This graduate degree typically demands a minimum of twelve months of full-time study or its part-time equivalent. While a four-year undergraduate degree is the standard entry requirement, applicants with three years of relevant professional experience may also qualify. Students complete one mandatory course, two optional courses, and submit a guided research project upon finishing the program. Upon graduation, students will possess enhanced communication and collaboration abilities, awareness of contemporary challenges, a cross-disciplinary global outlook, capacity for independent critical analysis, and understanding of essential ethical concerns.
