Politics examines how power is structured and exercised on both national and global scales. These dynamics of influence shape nearly every facet of our existence, governing our thoughts, expressions, actions, and collaborative efforts to improve society. Current events like Brexit, U.S. elections, the Syrian crisis, and the Treaty of Waitangi all demonstrate political forces at work. A political education provides nuanced, critical perspectives on issues often oversimplified in media coverage. Equip yourself to discern truth from hype: study Politics. Reflect on the advantages of deeper knowledge about human interactions, authority, disputes, and collaboration. Through political studies, you'll develop a sophisticated grasp of power dynamics and gain the analytical tools to wield influence responsibly for personal, societal, and global progress.
Those who study Politics cultivate logical reasoning skills, learn to question established norms, evaluate diverse perspectives, reach evidence-based conclusions, and respond with innovative, adaptable approaches.
Beyond subject-specific expertise, our programs help students build transferable skills that employers actively seek. A Politics qualification has launched numerous graduates into dynamic, fulfilling careers across various sectors in New Zealand and internationally. Our alumni work as policy advisors, diplomats, refugee advocates, media professionals, corporate executives, legal practitioners, government officials, consultants, and elected representatives. Many pursue advanced degrees at world-renowned universities overseas.
