The Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) program equips students to tackle global challenges by integrating philosophical analysis, political science perspectives, and economic methodologies. The curriculum covers demanding studies in logic, ethics, group dynamics, human psychology, governance theories, economic principles, and intellectual history.
Otago's PPE students undertake intensive coursework across all three foundational fields, supplemented by cross-disciplinary seminars and independent research projects.
This program provides wider methodological perspectives across these interconnected disciplines than conventional single-subject majors typically offer.
PPE alumni utilize their problem-solving abilities across diverse sectors: recent graduates have pursued careers in international relations, media, legal practice, organizational leadership, higher education, corporate management, startup ventures, financial services, and policy development.
Our graduates work across creative industries, hospitality sectors, and tech fields; those in public service hold positions at the highest judicial levels and within key government departments including Environmental Protection, Finance, Community Services, and Taxation.
Otago PPE degree holders contribute to public institutions, private enterprises, research organizations, and nonprofit sectors throughout New Zealand, North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.
