The Bachelor of Arts (BA) stands as Otago's most adaptable undergraduate program, allowing students to choose from over 40 arts and social science disciplines, along with courses from other university departments. This wide-ranging curriculum is balanced by specialized focus areas, where students can major in one or two fields while optionally minoring in additional subjects. Typically completed in three years of full-time study (or part-time equivalent), the program features instruction from actively researching faculty. Students engage with varied learning activities designed to foster critical thinking and intellectual autonomy. BA graduates emerge as well-rounded, adaptable individuals equipped with essential skills in information literacy, communication, research, and teamwork - preparing them for professional careers or advanced academic pursuits. The degree also serves as a gateway to the PGDipArts program in the student's chosen major field.
