Asian Studies courses enhance students' understanding of New Zealand's most significant neighboring nations and key trade partners, where age-old cultural heritage coexists with advanced technological innovation.
Economically and culturally, Asia now plays an essential role in New Zealand's society.
This interdisciplinary program fosters deeper comprehension of Asian communities, their customs, values, and belief systems.
The University of Otago has established Asian Studies as a field of research distinction. Our faculty not only teaches these subjects but also engages in independent and joint research projects both within the university and with external academic institutions.
Students can incorporate Asian Studies courses into a Global Studies degree program.
