The postgraduate Child and Family Psychology program stands out as the only one of its kind in New Zealand, delivered by a combination of academic and clinical experts from UC's School of Health Sciences along with other qualified instructors.

Our Postgraduate Diploma in Child and Family Psychology was developed in response to growing industry need for certified psychologists specializing in youth, adolescent, and family support services.

The curriculum strongly emphasizes assessing both protective factors and vulnerabilities within the framework of a child's surroundings. We address psychological health, emotional development, and educational needs while maintaining awareness of New Zealand's bicultural framework and societal influences. The program also covers parenting approaches, adult psychological wellbeing, and interpersonal dynamics, acknowledging that young people develop within complex family and community networks.
