This 180-point program examines the European Union (EU) within a worldwide framework, particularly emphasizing the Asia-Pacific area and EU-New Zealand connections.
Students pursuing a Master of European Union Studies (MEURO) will evaluate how global and regional factors shape the EU while developing insights into multicultural dynamics in both European and Asia-Pacific settings.
The EU's economic and political significance in the Asia-Pacific has reached unprecedented levels. Recent developments include a €2 billion joint Pacific energy initiative with New Zealand (2016), a finalized Free Trade Agreement with Korea, and ongoing FTA discussions with New Zealand, ASEAN nations, Malaysia, India, and Singapore. The MEURO program investigates BREXIT's regional implications through multiple academic lenses.
This qualification equips students for roles in governmental agencies, NGOs, and internationally-oriented businesses.
Participants will complete one of two internship options to develop community interaction abilities, while all students will examine multicultural identities in modern Europe and current EU relationships with Asia-Pacific countries, including indigenous communities like Maori.
The acquired expertise proves valuable for organizations such as New Zealand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, along with educational initiatives like WestREAP and Germany's ISD Dusseldorf.
