The University of Canterbury's Master of Advanced Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) provides a Nursing Council-endorsed route for registered nurses to enhance their expertise and qualifications, enabling them to pursue maātanga tapuhi (nurse practitioner) status. This 240-point MAdvNurs program consists of six mandatory courses plus a clinical placement requiring at least 300 hours. With intakes in February and July, students can complete the degree in 2 years full-time or 4 years part-time.
