The Postgraduate Diploma in Science (PGDipSci) is an opportunity for Bachelor of Science graduates to advance their qualifications. Pursue advanced study in your specialist area with the Postgraduate Diploma in Science. Extend your knowledge with coursework or try a project or dissertation as part of your diploma – the option is yours. The PGDipSci offers a pathway toward masters and doctoral study. The PGDipSci programme involves one year of full-time study, or up to four years of part-time study, after you have completed the requirements for the Bachelor of Science degree. You can study Logic and Computation as a postgraduate specialisation in either our Faculty of Arts or Faculty of Science programmes. Postgraduate study in Logic and Computation combines a strong core of advanced courses in Computer Science and Philosophy, alongside Linguistics, Logic and Computation and Mathematics to explore the development of computer languages. Areas of research interests open to exploration include: The design of algorithms, Definitions of computer models and complexity classes, Formal theories of syntax, The implementation and use of intelligent software agents, Issues in semantics such as pragmatics, Logic and set theory, An overview of the learning problem and the view of learning by search, Philosophy and computation, Representation formalisms, Standard artificial intelligence problem-solving paradigms Surveys agent architectures and multi-agent frameworks.

You must have completed an undergraduate degree in science at a recognised university (or similar institution) in your intended specialisation with a GPE of 3.0. Some specialisations may require you to have completed specific courses in your undergraduate degree.
