With a bachelor's degree in education, counseling, nursing, or social work plus three years of hands-on experience, this program can expand and elevate your professional path. You'll acquire thorough understanding of counseling theories and research while building practical skills for working with diverse clients. The program includes supervised counseling practice in community environments. It also serves as a stepping stone for master's-level research. Those who complete the PGDipCounsTh with a GPA of 5 or above in advanced courses may qualify for direct entry into the second year of the Master of Counseling program, provided they've taken a research methods course during their diploma studies.
You must have completed an undergraduate degree in education, counselling, nursing, social work or a similar profession from a recognised university (or similar institution).
You will also need at least three years’ experience in teaching, counselling, nursing, social work or similar profession.
Note: If you already hold the same or a substantially similar qualification, you may not be admitted to this programme.
IELTS (Academic): Overall score of 6.5 and no bands less than 6.0; Internet-based TOEFL (iBT): Overall score of 90 and written score of 21; Paper-based TOEFL: Overall score of 68 and a writing score of 21; Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) or Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE): Overall score of 176 and no bands below 169; Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: Overall score of 58 and no PTE Communicative score below 50; Foundation Certificate in English for Academic Purposes (FCertEAP): Grade of B-; Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB): 85.
