Students also have the option to incorporate interdisciplinary learning by selecting one or two master's courses (maximum 30 credits) from other University of Auckland faculties. The program includes essential legal research methodology training for those needing to develop these crucial skills. Choose from more than 30 specialized courses to focus on specific legal fields or explore diverse legal topics. The LLM can be completed through coursework, research projects, or a blend of both approaches. This advanced program enables deeper examination of legal subjects beyond undergraduate levels, featuring both intensive legal analysis courses and policy-focused offerings. Every course incorporates substantial research elements, typically culminating in a 12,500-word research paper for 30-credit classes.

Qualification Requirements

You must have completed a Bachelor of Laws or an undergraduate law degree from a recognised university (or similar institution) with a GPA of 5.0. If you have completed a Bachelor of Laws or an undergraduate law degree from a recognised university (or similar institution) but do not meet the grade requirements for direct admission into the Master of Laws programme you may apply for the Postgraduate Certificate in Law (PGCertLaw) pathway. Under the PGCertLaw, you must complete at least 60 points of postgraduate law courses, with a B average, to gain admission into the LLM programme. The 60 points completed under the PGCertLaw may then be re-assigned to the LLM programme. IELTS (Academic) - Overall score of 7.0 and no bands below 6.5 Internet-based TOEFL (iBT) - Overall score of 100 (Writting score 24)
