This adaptable program is available as both 120-point and 180-point degree options. The 120-point version caters to students who've completed a year of equivalent postgraduate study. The curriculum features three foundational courses covering essential subjects like disaster risk management, resilience strategies, and project management, along with a 45-point research project spanning two semesters—where you'll explore a disaster management-related topic. Concentrating on disaster resilience and risk reduction, the MDisMgt program develops practical skills for tackling complex challenges in high-stakes situations. We take a comprehensive approach to disaster management, teaching you how to design frameworks, establish policies, and develop solutions. A mandatory research project allows you to showcase critical thinking and analytical abilities by independently addressing real-world disaster scenarios. The program leverages expertise from multiple University departments. In addition to the Faculty of Engineering's renowned academics, you'll learn from specialists in Science, Architecture and Planning, Development Studies, and Environmental Law. Our diverse student body brings varied backgrounds but shares a unified mission: helping communities prepare for and rebound from natural disasters.
