The MA provides diverse options to suit your needs. You can select between research-based or taught programs, with durations of one year or 18 months based on your prior qualifications, across over 40 academic disciplines. Your previous studies may allow you to explore a field different from your original specialization. The research master's program lets you make meaningful contributions to your chosen discipline through an extensive research project guided by New Zealand's top academics. Alternatively, taught master's programs offer intensive learning in small groups with direct faculty engagement, alongside a more compact research component. Sociology postgraduate studies enable you to expand your understanding of sociological theories, literature, and methodologies while pursuing your personal research passions. Potential study areas include: Mental health studies, Human rights issues, Tourism dynamics, Citizenship concepts, State-sponsored crimes, Genocide research, Youth crime and political ecology, Identity in colonial contexts, Family and social policy, Gender studies, Globalization effects, Modern society analysis, Critical theoretical approaches, and Societal transformation.
