The MA provides diverse study options. You can select between research-based or taught programs, with durations of one year or 18 months based on your qualifications, across over 40 academic disciplines. Your prior education might allow you to explore a field distinct from your previous focus. A research master's lets you make meaningful contributions to your discipline through an extensive research project guided by New Zealand's top academics. For taught programs, you'll enhance your expertise in intimate classroom settings, benefit from direct faculty engagement, and complete a modest research component. Advanced coursework and independent research opportunities span subjects including: Japanese language, Linguistics, Literature, History, Religion and society, Cultural and identity studies, and Teaching Japanese as a foreign language.
