The MA provides various study options to suit your needs. You can choose between research-based or taught programs, with durations of either one year or 18 months based on your prior qualifications, across over 40 academic disciplines. Your previous education might allow you to explore a field different from your earlier focus. The research master's program lets you make meaningful contributions to your chosen discipline through an extensive research project guided by New Zealand's top academics. Alternatively, the taught master's offers intensive learning in small groups, direct engagement with faculty members, and a more concise research component. Postgraduate studies span anthropology's four key areas: Archaeology, Biological Anthropology, Ethnomusicology, and Social Anthropology, offering broad academic possibilities.
