A BHScLLB(Hons) combined degree enables you to earn both a BHSc and LLB(Hons) more efficiently, requiring less time and fewer credits than pursuing each degree independently. Researchers are investigating and tackling modern societal issues, while contemporary legislators create frameworks for emerging scientific fields like climate policy, genetic engineering, biotech regulations, and beyond. With rapid advancements constantly expanding our knowledge, there's growing need for legal experts with scientific literacy - and scientists who understand legal complexities surrounding their work. Graduates with a BScLLB(Hons) dual degree enjoy diverse career opportunities across scientific and legal fields. The University of Auckland Law School's honors program carries significant prestige. Beyond standard legal training, honors students develop superior research and writing capabilities, making them ideal candidates for policy and research positions. For science-oriented students, this combined degree provides pathways into specialized legal areas like environmental regulation, patent law, or scientific fields including biotech, IT, and forensic sciences.

Legal studies encompass varied subjects through required and optional courses in the LLB program. Students first establish comprehensive legal foundations through core requirements before selecting specialized electives in their final year. Ranked as New Zealand's premier law faculty and among the world's best (2021 QS World University Rankings), Auckland Law School cultivates critical analysis, communication, and research abilities. The program emphasizes legal ethics, professional standards, and law's societal impact, preparing students for multifaceted legal careers.
