The Bachelor of Health Science (BHSc) offers a comprehensive exploration of health, healthcare systems, and services within New Zealand. This program emphasizes population health, examining how socio-economic conditions and lifestyle choices influence health outcomes and service delivery. Students gain thorough insights into government health policies, healthcare financing, and the biological and societal roots of disease. First-year students have the opportunity to apply for clinical programs in Medicine or Pharmacy. The BHSc can also be combined with degrees in Advanced Science, Arts, Commerce, Design, Global Studies, Law, Nursing, or Science, adding valuable health expertise to these disciplines. Graduates pursue diverse non-clinical careers across public, private, and nonprofit healthcare sectors. After completing the first year, students may qualify for Medicine, Nursing, or Pharmacy programs, or continue with postgraduate studies in public health, health sciences, or health administration. Combining the BHSc with degrees in Arts, Commerce, Nursing, Law, or Science broadens professional opportunities. Please note that the University of Auckland does not oversee graduate employment and cannot ensure professional registration or job placement in New Zealand or internationally.
