This four-year degree combines theory and hands-on experience to prepare you for your professional journey. You'll select from nine specialized tracks offered by our nation's top-ranked Engineering school. Every specialization holds accreditation from Engineering New Zealand, a Washington Accord signatory, granting international recognition to our BE(Hons) qualification.
The Mechatronics Engineering specialization within the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) provides particularly diverse studies compared to other tracks. This interdisciplinary program integrates elements of Mechanical, Electronics, Computer, and Software Engineering. The curriculum typically includes: Foundational engineering and professional studies in Year 1 A Mechanical Engineering focus in Year 2 Integrated Mechanical, Electrical, and Computer Engineering coursework in Year 3 Greater elective flexibility alongside your capstone project in Year 4
Secondary school qualifications
You need to have one of the following:
International Baccalaureate Diploma with a minimum total score of 24.
General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level. You must have completed a minimum of three A-Level subjects.
Cambridge International Examinations (CIE). You must have completed a minimum of three A-level subjects.
GCE ‘A’ Level requirements apply to ‘A’ Level qualifications examined by bodies such as AQA, OCR, Edexcel, WJEC, CCEA and Pearson Education Limited taken outside of New Zealand.
IELTS (Academic): Overall score of 6.5 and no bands below 6.0; Internet-based TOEFL (iBT): Overall score of 90 and written score of 21; Paper-based TOEFL: Overall score of 68 and a writing score of 21; Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) or Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE): Overall score of 176 and no bands below 169; Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: Overall score of 58 and no PTE Communicative score below 50; Foundation Certificate in English for Academic Purposes (FCertEAP): Grade of B-; Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB): 85.
