The Bachelor of Arts (BA) offers the flexibility to pursue your passions across diverse academic disciplines. With an extensive selection of study options, you can tailor your education to match your interests or professional aspirations. A BA equips you with adaptable knowledge and transferable skills to thrive in evolving job markets. Core competencies like effective communication and innovative problem-solving will broaden your career prospects in our rapidly changing workforce. Enhance your professional toolkit through optional thematic modules designed for emerging career paths. The double major structure provides concentrated expertise while allowing you to explore various subjects before specialization. For interdisciplinary study, you can combine your BA with another degree through our conjoint program.
French language courses accommodate all proficiency levels, from complete beginners to advanced speakers. Our curriculum encompasses French literature, cultural studies, cinema, historical perspectives, medieval research, linguistic analysis, and translation - with some courses conducted entirely in French. Immersive study abroad opportunities in Francophone countries are available. French can serve as one of your two BA majors, requiring completion of at least 120 points (eight courses) per major, including a minimum of 45 points (three courses) at Stage III level.
Secondary school qualifications:
You need to have one of the following:
International Baccalaureate Diploma with a minimum total score of 24.
General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level. You must have completed a minimum of three A-Level subjects.
GCE ‘A’ Level requirements apply to ‘A’ Level qualifications examined by bodies such as AQA, OCR, Edexcel, WJEC, CCEA and Pearson Education Limited taken outside of New Zealand.
IELTS (Academic): Overall score of 6.0 and no bands below 5.5; Internet based TOEFL (iBT): Overall score of 80 and a written score of 21; Paper-based TOEFL: Overall score of 60 and a writing score of 21; Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE), Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE): Overall score of 169 and no bands below 162; Foundation Certificate in English for Academic Purposes (FCertEAP): Grade of C-; Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: Overall score of 50 and no PTE Communicative score below 42; Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB): 80.
