This program offers profound insights into both yourself and the world through Arts and Fine Arts studies. As a creative thinker, you'll explore cultural, social, environmental, ethical, and political themes while developing impactful ways to communicate these ideas. The Bachelor of Arts provides diverse subjects, allowing you to specialize in areas of society, people, and culture that fascinate you. In Fine Arts, you'll engage with contemporary art and select from various media like ceramics, photography, installation, performance art, print, film, digital media, and sound art. This dual degree enriches your understanding of society while sharpening critical thinking and communication abilities. Combining these disciplines maximizes your potential and expands career opportunities.

Latin studies teach not just the language but also methods for linguistic analysis. You'll explore Roman literature and culture, with beginners starting from the basics. Stage I offers intensive language instruction before progressing to literature and intermediate language in Stage II.

Latin courses provide both language acquisition and analytical skills for describing language structures. Students engage with classical texts and cultural understanding, with complete beginners welcome. The initial stage focuses on rapid language acquisition before advancing to literary studies. If you have partial Latin background (less than five secondary school years), consult the Undergraduate Adviser for placement. LATIN 101 serves as an entry point for students with NCEA Level 1 Latin, while those with NCEA Level 3 (16 credits) typically start at Stage II. During enrollment, you'll complete an online concession form to ensure proper placement.
