Students engage with classical texts and cultural understanding, with complete beginners welcome. The initial stage focuses on rapid language acquisition before advancing to literary studies. If you have partial Latin background (less than five secondary school years), consult the Undergraduate Adviser for placement. LATIN 101 serves as an entry point for students with NCEA Level 1 Latin, while those with NCEA Level 3 (16 credits) typically start at Stage II. During enrollment, you'll complete an online concession form to ensure proper placement.
