As a construction professional, you'll be highly sought-after, equipped with practical technical skills to estimate costs and oversee projects while innovating to enhance workflows and boost productivity.
Diverse career paths will be available to you, including roles like project manager, quantity surveyor, cost estimator, or contract administrator. Graduates may also pursue membership in industry organizations like the New Zealand Institute of Quantity Surveying (NZIQS).
With career progression, you could advance to senior positions such as lead project manager, site supervisor, or chief quantity surveyor, transition into commercial or divisional leadership, or establish your own consulting practice. Additional education could lead to specialization in construction law and conflict resolution.
For those under 20
NCEA Level 3 including:
14 credits at Level 3 or above in each of three NZQA approved university entrance subjects, and
10 literacy credits at Level 2 or above, made up of:
5 credits in reading, and
5 credits in writing, and
12 numeracy credits at Level 2 or above, made up of:
specified achievement standards available through a range of subjects OR
package of three numeracy unit standards (26623, 26626, 26627- all three required).
For those over 20
You must supply evidence of industry experience and/or alternative relevant qualifications.
Provisional entry is possible.
English Language requirements
If English is not your first language, you must provide:
New Zealand University Entrance OR
Overall Academic IELTS 6.0 with no individual band score lower than 5.5 (achieved in one test completed in the last two years), OR
OET: Minimum of Grade C or 200 in all sub tests
TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT): Score of 60 (with a writing score of 18)
Cambridge English Qualifications: B2 First, or B2 First for schools, or C1 Advanced, or C2 Proficiency with a score of 169. No less than 162 in each skill;
Pearson Test of English (Academic): PTE (Academic) score of 50 with no band score lower than 42
Language Certificate: C1 Expert ESOL Written (LRW) with PASS and no less than 25/50 in each skill and Spoken Pass
