The Master of Engineering (thesis-based) is a 120-credit program designed for graduates holding a BE (Hons) or PGDipE. This qualification requires completion of a 120-credit thesis. The degree will specify a specialization matching one of the majors available in the Bachelor of Engineering with Honours program. Students who complete their 120-credit master's with exceptional performance (comparable to First Class Honours) will graduate with Distinction, while those achieving results equivalent to Second Class Honours, Division One within one year of full-time enrollment or three years of part-time study will receive Merit. Thesis work begins with part one, followed by part two in the subsequent enrollment period. Both sections together fulfill the thesis requirements and receive a unified grade. Should the thesis remain unfinished after the initial part two enrollment, students must re-enroll in part two each semester (with associated fees) until submission, unless they qualify for an extension.
