The Master of Nursing Science is a 180-credit program (18 months full-time or 3 years part-time) designed to help registered nurses enhance their professional expertise.
Upon completing this program, graduates will gain deeper nursing knowledge, improved evidence-based practice skills, and stronger clinical decision-making and research abilities - preparing them for advanced nursing roles, education, and leadership positions.
Future career and education prospects
This Master's program specifically equips nurses for specialized advanced practice, leadership roles, teaching positions, and/or pursuing Doctoral studies.
An interview may be part of the application process where required or appropriate.
The academic entry requirement for the Master of Nursing Science is one of the following:
A NZQF-listed Bachelor’s or higher degree in Nursing (or equivalent) with a minimum of the equivalent to a B average as per the EIT-specified 11-point achievement-based grading system; or
At the discretion of EIT, where an applicant’s situation is compelling but not covered by the requirements listed above.
Progression to Level 9 courses is dependent upon satisfactory academic progress.
