The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) empowers individuals in Tairāwhiti and Hawke’s Bay to develop into skilled social work professionals, serving their local communities, Aotearoa New Zealand, and internationally. This qualification qualifies graduates for registration as social workers in Aotearoa New Zealand. The program aims to develop graduates who: Exhibit compassion, openness, respect, emotional strength, and self-understanding. Maintain high standards of ethics, genuineness, and professional conduct. Apply thoughtful, analytical approaches to social work, utilizing supervision, ongoing skill development, continuous learning, and personal care. Advocate for social equity and transformation while upholding human rights principles in both New Zealand and worldwide settings. Outstanding academic performance in the third year may lead to an invitation to join the Honours program in the fourth year, culminating in a Bachelor of Social Work (Honours) degree.
