An outdoor education qualification equips you with the expertise to pursue careers in adventure and outdoor industries, guiding and instructing others. AUT's outdoor education alumni find employment across diverse sectors. They serve as school educators, staff at outdoor activity centers, run adventure tourism businesses, and frequently advance to leadership roles. Experience New Zealand's distinctive landscapes while learning from nationally renowned outdoor education experts. AUT's faculty members have professional and expedition experience in globally renowned locations such as Antarctica, Nepal, the Americas, the UK, New Zealand, and the alpine regions of France, Austria, and Switzerland.

Qualification Requirements

Bachelor’s degree entry requirements equivalent to New Zealand Year 13 New Zealand secondary school qualifications Overall Require NCEA level 3 certificate which consists of 80 credits, including at least 60 credits at level 3 or higher. Can include up to 20 credits at level 2. Subject credits Total of 42 level 3 credits including: 14 credits from one approved subject 14 credits from a second approved subject 14 credits from a third approved subject International Baccalaureate (IB) with successful completion of a minimum of 24 points. Cambridge International Examination - a minimum of 120 points on the UCAS Tariff* at A or AS level from any subjects which are broadly equivalent to the subjects in the NCEA approved subject list. Must include at least three subjects (excluding Thinking Skills) with grades D or above. Numeracy: A minimum grade of D in International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) mathematics or any mathematics subject at AS or A level. Literacy: A minimum grade of E in English Language and/or English Literature subject at AS or A level. General Certificate of Education (GCE) with three A-levels including at least one C grade or better. A result in General Studies cannot be included among the 3 on which the application is based. A minimum of CCC scores (7 points) across the NCUK International Foundation Year (IFY) Acceptance of the NCUK English for Academic Purposes qualification as an alternative to meeting the English-language requirements, with a minimum of a C grade overall and no less than D grade in each component. Must be capable of meeting the Children's Act 2014 requirements, including police clearance
