The MSc in Applied Physics is a one-year program designed for graduates in physical sciences and engineering. UL Physics collaborates with industry leaders including Analog Devices, COOK Medical, Intel, Seagate, and BorgWarner. These partnerships drive scientific progress, foster innovation in products and processes, and open career pathways for our alumni.
The program is taught by researchers pioneering next-generation technologies, with a proven record of scientific publications and intellectual property in areas like battery materials, energy harvesting, photonics, non-linear optics, imaging, atomistic simulations, 2D materials, and medical devices.
Our faculty are part of UL's Bernal Institute, a top-tier Irish research center, and bring expertise in experimental development, calibration, and validation to their teaching.
The Bernal Institute features state-of-the-art facilities for material preparation and analysis, including the FEI Titan Transmission Electron Microscope under Professor Ursel Bangert's direction, and the new Actuate Lab led by ERC recipient Dr. Sarah Guerin.
This MSc program equips graduates with advanced applied physics skills and deep knowledge of material properties' physical principles, preparing them for careers in research and high-tech industries.
