Entry into a Women's Studies research program requires applicants to submit a proposal after consulting with a prospective supervisor. MLitt candidates typically need an undergraduate degree with first-class honors in a related field. Those with comparable qualifications or relevant professional experience may also apply. Research Focus Areas: Feminist and political theory, global women's movements, human rights legislation and activism, gender and religious extremism, women's rights in conflict zones and transitional societies. The socioeconomic consequences of gender-based violence, sexual identity, and rights-based development strategies, along with gender dimensions of health emergencies. Patterns of social inclusion/exclusion, gender disparities, and female identity in rural development contexts. Worldwide cultural shifts, critiques of conventional development models—particularly ecological, Global South, and feminist viewpoints and activism. Religious institutions (particularly Catholicism), LGBTQ+ matters, civic engagement, and gender dynamics in post-communist countries. International relations theory, universal rights frameworks, transnational activism, Buddhist political thought, sex work regulations, human trafficking, and female political participation.
