Our PhD program provides a comprehensive framework featuring: (1) research methodology training, (2) specialized coursework in two political science and international relations disciplines, (3) ongoing guidance from a dedicated Research Studies Panel of faculty experts aligned with each student's focus areas, and (4) completion of an original doctoral dissertation.

Participants must select primary and secondary specialization fields within political science and international relations, completing PhD seminars that examine foundational literature in both chosen areas.

With Research Studies Panel authorization, students may fulfill their secondary subject requirement through seminars in related disciplines outside the School. The curriculum also includes mandatory courses in research design, qualitative analysis, and quantitative methods. Optional postgraduate modules (available within SPIRe, the College of Human Sciences, and partner institutions) allow for further specialization and methodological development.
