Pharmacology examines medications and their effects on living organisms, from genetic and cellular levels to entire tissues and human communities. A drug refers to any compound administered to humans or animals to alter bodily functions, whether for pain relief, cancer treatment, infection control, or health enhancement. This field also utilizes drugs as research instruments to deepen our knowledge of cellular and physiological mechanisms in both healthy and diseased states. At UCD, Pharmacology students can engage in pharmaceutical research projects.
