The BCL/Matrise joint degree program at UCD Sutherland School of Law stands as Ireland's only offering of its kind. This four-year program splits its curriculum, with students completing the initial two years at UCD and the concluding two at a prestigious French law institution. Designed for driven and high-achieving students, the BCL/Matrise equips graduates with a distinctive competitive edge in the job market through unparalleled legal expertise and language proficiency.

This program represents one of two French Law options available at Sutherland School of Law, alongside the BCL (Law with French Law) mentioned earlier. All prospective French Law students begin with the BCL (Law with French Law) in their first year. Both degrees provide the remarkable chance to engage deeply with two globally significant legal frameworks: common law and civil law. Mastery of civil law proves particularly beneficial for graduates aspiring to roles within European Union institutions or international legal practices.

Students enrolled in the BCL (Law with French Law) program can apply to transfer to the BCL/Matrise during their second year of study.
