If you excel at Higher Level Mathematics for the Leaving Certificate or A-Levels and possess sharp analytical and problem-solving abilities, UCD's Actuarial & Financial Studies (BAFS) program might be your ideal choice. This degree not only equips you for professional roles in actuarial or financial sectors but also offers a broader, more varied curriculum than conventional actuarial science programs.

Successful actuaries need comprehensive training across multiple disciplines including mathematics, economics, finance, statistics, risk management, and professional ethics. Blending analytical prowess with business acumen and behavioral understanding, they develop systems to mitigate risk and ensure adequate funding for insurance and pension schemes. While traditionally employed in insurance and pensions, actuaries are now expanding into diverse fields that leverage their versatile skill set. Graduates also pursue careers in finance, investments, and trading.
