The MA in Arts Management & Creative Producing program is delivered by University College Cork's College of Arts, Celtic Studies & Social Sciences (CACSSS).
This specialized MA equips students with leadership training in arts administration while developing hands-on event management skills across diverse artistic disciplines such as theatre, music, film, dance, literature, and visual/performing arts. Building on UCC's standing as a hub for interdisciplinary arts education, the program emphasizes experiential learning through professional engagement.
Designed for aspiring arts administrators (managing cultural institutions and performance venues) and creative producers (curating festivals, exhibitions, and artistic programming), this degree offers comprehensive career preparation.
Housed in the Theatre Department of the School of Film, Music & Theatre, the program maintains a strategic partnership with Cork Opera House as a teaching venue. This collaboration facilitates cutting-edge instructional methods, with faculty including industry leaders like Dr Marie Kelly (former Head of Casting at Abbey Theatre) and Eibhlín Gleeson (Cork Opera House CEO).
Applicants will normally have a minimum Second Class Honours Grade II in a primary honours degree (NFQ, Level 8) in the humanities or business and demonstrate an interest in working in the arts.
Examples of demonstrated interest include membership of youth arts groups; previous involvement in art projects either at school, university, or in the community; previous internships/placements, volunteering, or full/part-time work in arts-related organisations. Applicants with significant professional-level experience in the arts will also be considered under Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
