This intensive one-year postgraduate program provides a direct pathway to a professional accounting career. It enables students to fulfill a significant portion of the study and examination requirements needed to become a qualified accountant. Graduates who successfully complete all course components will receive full exemptions from Chartered Accountants Ireland (CAI) examinations, except for the Final Admitting Examination (FAE).
Beyond exam exemptions, the program delivers comprehensive benefits. Students receive rigorous training in core technical subjects while exploring current trends in accounting and finance that influence modern business practices. The curriculum also enhances essential professional skills and commercial acumen, giving graduates a distinct advantage when entering the accounting field. Furthermore, MAcc graduates automatically qualify for exemptions from all Part 1 examinations in the AITI Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) certification.
To apply for this course you must have:
at least a Second Class Honours Grade I in a primary honours degree (NFQ, Level 8) with a significant accounting specialisation and expect to qualify for exemption from the CA Proficiency 1 examination of Chartered Accountants Ireland (CAI)
Applicants who do not meet the exemption requirement in full by the registration date may only be admitted in exceptional circumstances following approval by the Programme Board and the School of Business.
