The Higher Diploma in Arts (Theatre & Performative Practices) serves as a bridge program for students holding degrees in non-Theatre disciplines or with limited Theatre coursework. By completing this diploma, your existing degree transforms into the equivalent of an honors degree with Theatre as the primary focus. This program specifically caters to graduates from other fields seeking to enhance their skills, obtain a specialized Theatre qualification, and prepare for advanced studies at the MA or doctoral level.

This program particularly suits individuals who have developed theatre skills through extracurricular activities like youth or community theatre and now aim to refine those abilities to professional standards, opening doors to careers in professional theatre or specialized applied theatre fields such as educational drama.

The Higher Diploma curriculum comprises 60 credits worth of modules selected from existing second and final year Drama and Theatre Studies courses. Each student's program is customized based on their academic background and specialization interests, with specific module selections, attendance expectations, and coursework requirements determined by the relevant academic departments and approved by the College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Sciences.
