Geographers study Earth's diverse cultures, economies, communities, physical terrains, and ecosystems through an interdisciplinary approach blending humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences.
Our Higher Diploma in Arts - Geography serves as a transition program designed for graduates holding degrees in non-geography Arts or Science disciplines. Many pursue this qualification to gain geographical insights for advanced studies or career development, or to qualify Geography as a secondary teaching specialization.
The Higher Diploma in Arts Geography comprises 60 credits worth of modules chosen from second and third-year Geography offerings, spanning key geographical themes and research methodologies. This flexible structure allows students to customize their learning path according to individual interests.
All Higher Diploma in Arts geography participants must complete a mandatory week-long residential field methods course, typically scheduled at the conclusion of Semester 2.
It is intended for those who already have a 3 or 4 year primary degree, preferably in the area of Arts or the Sciences, and who wish to study the subject Geography intensively over one academic year. The Higher Diploma in Arts is a conversion programme and applicants would not normally have studied the relevant subject to Honours Degree level previously.
