This multidisciplinary course enhances students' abilities, expertise, and understanding, empowering them to advance and foster high-quality care for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Participants will examine the physical health considerations, policy frameworks, and intricate care requirements of this population.
Located at Trinity College Dublin, the Trinity Centre for Ageing and Intellectual Disability houses IDS-TILDA - the foremost global longitudinal study on ageing and intellectual disability, representing the most comprehensive multidisciplinary research in this domain. This pioneering work directly influences policies and practices to improve quality of life for aging individuals with intellectual disabilities. Learners will benefit from instruction by internationally renowned experts, engage with cutting-edge practices and studies in intellectual disability, and develop leadership skills in delivering personalized, compassionate care for aging individuals with intellectual disabilities.
A 2.1 degree in the applicant’s field of practice or satisfy the selection committee that they have the academic ability to successfully complete the programme
Current registration with the relevant professions’ regulatory body, where applicable.
All applicants to the School of Nursing and Midwifery whose first language is not English or who have not been educated through the medium of English must present one of the following qualifications in the English language:
IELTS: Grade 6.5 overall with a minimum of grade of 6 in each category;
TOEFL: 88 internet-based, 570 paper-based, 230 computer-based. The test taken here should be TOEFL IBT;
University of Cambridge:
Pearson Test of English (Academic) - PTE Academic: a minimum score of 63 to be eligible (with no section score below 59);
Duolingo English Test: minimum overall score of 110/160, dated since January 2020
An award certificate with a minimum II.1 overall score from Trinity's Centre for English Language Learning and Teaching's Pre-sessional Pathway Programme.
